Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Aussie Rights Kit is operated by Keep Them Honest AU (ABN pending), an Australian digital legal education platform. You can contact us at admin@keepthemhonestau.app.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Aussie Rights Kit mobile application, the website at keepthemhonestau.com, and the web platform at keepthemhonestau.app (collectively, "the Service").

2. What information we collect

Information we do NOT collect:

• Your name, email address, or any account credentials — no account is required
• Location data
• Device identifiers or advertising IDs
• Emergency contacts or personal messages you save in the app
• Your browsing behaviour within the app

Information that may be processed:

• AI feature inputs: When you use the AI Police Encounter Simulator or AI Educator, your typed messages are sent to a third-party AI provider (see Section 5) to generate a response. These messages are not stored by us after the session ends.
• Basic web analytics: Our hosting infrastructure (Cloudflare) may collect standard server logs including IP addresses and page requests. These are held by Cloudflare under their own privacy policy and are not linked to your identity by us.
• Contact requests: If you email us (e.g. a data deletion request), we will retain that email solely to respond to and fulfil your request.

3. Data stored on your device

Certain features store data locally on your device only:

• Emergency contacts and SOS message (Emergency Plan feature)
• Your selected state or territory preference
• App settings and preferences

This data is never uploaded to our servers, never shared with third parties, and is accessible only to you. You can delete it at any time via the app settings or by uninstalling the app.

4. How we use information

The limited information we process is used solely to:

• Provide the AI-powered features in real time
• Maintain the security and performance of the Service via Cloudflare infrastructure
• Respond to direct contact or data deletion requests

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or marketing. We do not sell or share your information with third parties for commercial purposes.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services:

• Cloudflare Workers & Pages — hosting and CDN. Cloudflare may log IP addresses and request metadata. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• AI language model provider — AI chat features pass your typed input to a third-party language model API. Inputs are used only to generate your response and are not retained by us. The provider's own data retention policies apply.
• Google Play Store — for Android app distribution. Google's privacy practices apply to any data collected through the Play Store.

6. Data retention

We retain no personal data on our own servers beyond the duration of a session. Server logs held by Cloudflare are subject to their own retention policies (typically 30 days). Emails sent to us for support or deletion requests are retained only as long as necessary to resolve the matter.

7. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), you have the right to:

• Request access to any personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

8. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect the Service from unauthorised access. Because we collect minimal data and store nothing sensitive on our servers, the risk surface is intentionally small. Data stored on your device is subject to the security of your device.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via the app or website.
